The Wine House 1821

It's not everyday you get to sit back and enjoy a glass of wine in a gorgeous Georgian townhouse in Edinburgh so when The Wine House 1821invited me to come in and sample their wine menu, I was absolutely delighted. Especially as I've walked past so often and wondered what it might be like inside! The Wine House is located on Picardy Place, right in the centre of Edinburgh's bustling New Town and is the perfect place for a cosy evening drink or a post-work catchup with friends. The Wine House has an impressive collection of over 130 wines so you're sure to find something that appeals. If you're not much of a wine drinker, they also have a lovely cocktail menu, plus an extensive range of spirits and Italian beers. I am, admittedly, quite useless when it comes to wine. I am by no means an expert! Fortunately, The Wine House's staff are really friendly, knowledgable and approachable, and were more than happy to advise. We went for a gorgeous bottle of Sauvignon in the end which was perfect and full of character. We were also lucky enough to try one of their sharing platters. There isn't much I love more in the world than Italian antipasto platter, piled high with meats, cheeses, and olives, and this one was particularly delicious. Couple that with a delicious glass of crisp white wine, and a chic, cosy interior, and I'm a happy girl. The charcuterie was lovely and the fine Italian cheeses ridiculously more-ish!All in all, The Wine House is the perfect pitstop for wine lovers and I absolutely love that they are licensed as a wine shop - so if you discover a new favourite, you can grab a bottle to take home with you! We also took a quick peek at their uber-chic basement cocktail bar, Bar 1821, which is the perfect blend of trendy, traditional and that chic Italian glamour. It's the perfect place for a late-night soiree and is even available for private hire if you're looking for somewhere exclusive! Thank you so much to The Wine House 1821, I will most certainly be popping in again in the future!
