Brunch at The Ivy on the Square, Edinburgh
The Ivy, Edinburgh
There are few things I love more than a lazy weekend brunch. Throw in gorgeous interiors, particularly delicious food and tea served from a silver teapot and I really couldn't be happier. A few weeks ago, I was kindly invited to brunch at The Ivy on the Square here in Edinburgh to celebrate the launch of their new weekend DJ sets. Having been to The Ivy for brunch before, I was so excited to be asked as they really do nail their brunch menu.
For people not familiar with The Ivy on the Square, it's situated in a gorgeous glass building on St Andrew Square, right in the heart of the city. It's a really handy location, perfect if you're out shopping or sightseeing and fancy a bit of affordable luxury. (I love it at Christmas time too as you get an amazing view of the ice rink and all the festivities!)
What's on the menu
I started, as is only right, with a pot of breakfast tea. I absolutely love the elegance of The Ivy - I wish all tea came in a silver tea pot, frankly! - it's such a lovely treat and feels fancy without being stuffy or off-putting. We were quickly tempted by the juices and cocktails, too. Freshly prepared fruit smoothie for me, Bloody Mary for him.
While we waited for our food to arrive, we sat and enjoyed the live DJ set. The music is fun but not too loud or intrusive. It sets the atmosphere beautifully and everyone seemed to be really enjoying the soulful mix of tunes. You can read more about The Ivy's weekend brunch series here if you'd like to know more.
We kicked off brunch with starters: a delicious burrata salad and one of the most impressive looking prawn cocktails I've ever seen. We then moved on to the main event: eggs florentine served with delicious hand-cut chips. The food was genuinely delicious. The eggs were cooked to perfection and everything was served with such care and attention. Fit to burst, we practically rolled out the door. Two happy brunchers indeed.
Thank you so much to The Ivy, Edinburgh for being such wonderful hosts!
