Edinburgh Christmas Gift Guide 2020

Christmas is going to be a little different this year and Edinburgh's streets will likely be a bit quieter than usual. With that in mind, I've put together a Christmas gift guide featuring gorgeous products and gift ideas from some of my favourite Edinburgh-based businesses. Even from afar, we can still support our favourite Edinburgh brands and shops.

Let's dive in, shall we...

Tartan Blanket Co.

Located in the heart of Leith, the Tartan Blanket Company make gorgeous blankets and scarves from natural and sustainable wool. They're super soft and come in an array of patterns and tartans (Stewart Natural Dress Tartan is one of my particular favourites!) Their personalised gift boxes are gorgeous and would be such a lovely thing to send to someone this Christmas.

Dook Soap

Based in Edinburgh, Dook create luxury, handcrafted salt soaps and shampoo bars using organic ingredients and essential oils. And they smell DIVINE. Their Bergamot, Juniper & Rose Geranium scent is to die for.

Coco Chocolatier

Chocolate lovers look no further. Coco makes the most incredible collection of luxury single-origin chocolate—it's all ethically traded, organic and frankly delicious. They've also launched an advent calendar for Christmas this year which I'm already daydreaming about.

Rosevear Tea

Tucked away on Broughton Street, Rosevear Tea has a vast range of loose leaf tea. I always pop in around Christmas time to pick up presents for the tea-lovers in my life. I really love their Christmas blend for the perfect festive brew!

Edinburgh Gin

Edinburgh Gin makes award-winning small-batch gin distilled right here in the heart of Edinburgh. This Christmas they've drawn inspiration from Edinburgh’s literary history and created their very own storybook gift boxes.

Laura Bond Jewellery

Edinburgh-based Laura Bond creates beautiful, contemporary gold earrings. She specialises in stackable earrings with an extra bit of sparkle! I have my eye on some of her gorgeous celestial designs.

The Pretty Mask Company

I never thought in a million years that I'd be looking at festive-themed face masks for Christmas 2020! It's a crazy world we're living in, but that doesn't mean PPE can't be pretty. Edinburgh-based fashion graduates Hannah & Lucinda started The Pretty Mask Company while on furlough and their designs are absolutely gorgeous. They make them all by hand in Edinburgh and have launched some stunning Christmas gift sets. I adore their navy star print.

G is for Georgina

I'll admit, it's a little cheeky adding your own product to a gift guide but in case you missed the news, I've launched my very own 2021 calendar featuring gorgeous seasonal images of Edinburgh! Each month is paired with a carefully selected tie-in literary quote. Edinburgh: A Year in Prose & Pictures is available now on Etsy and 10% of profits will be donated to Tiny Changes, a Scottish charity dedicated to improving mental health services and support for young people.

Shop local online

Edinburgh is full of gorgeous independent shops stocking everything from homewares and fashion, to jewellery and books. While it's a bit harder to visit our favourite shops this year, we can still support them by shopping online. Here are just a few of my Edinburgh-based favourites!

Lifestory

Edinburgh's Lifestory is a mecca for lovers of Scandinavian design. Owner Susan Docherty (who just happens to be one of the loveliest women in Edinburgh!) has curated the most irresistible range of products, including ceramics, scented candles, jewellery and homewares.

You can support Lifestory directly by shopping through their website.

Golden Hare Books

An Edinburgh institution, Golden Hare Books stocks a truly lovely array of books for adults and children. Though nothing beats browsing a bookshop in person, Golden Hare offers UK & international shipping for those of us who can't make it to Stockbridge this Christmas.

Biscuit Clothing

Biscuit is a small indie clothing and lifestyle store, offering branded fashion and swoon-worthy homeware and gifts. They have two shops (one in Edinburgh and one in Glasgow) and a gorgeous website full of beautiful things. Even better, they stock two of my favourite homeware brands: Plum & Ashby and Our Lovely Goods.

Topping & Company Booksellers

Another one for the bookworms in your life. Topping & Co have a few bookshops in Scotland and England but recently opened up here in Edinburgh (and quickly became one of my favourite places to spend time!) You can order from their impressive catalogue on their website.

Travelling Basket

Travelling Basket is one of Edinburgh's loveliest lifestyle stores (it's also a coffee shop and florist - what can't they do?!) Get your hands on a beautiful range of carefully selected artisan products from independent makers. They focus on quality, sustainable products and ship worldwide. What's not to love?

Curiouser & Curiouser

Curiouser & Curiouser is without a doubt one of my favourite shops in Edinburgh. I'm always popping into their Broughton Street branch - it's my go-to shop for gifts and stationery (their card selection is ~the best~) Their website is equally lovely and hosts a wide range of homewares, prints, children's toys, gifts, and jewellery.

Style Your Spaces

Style Your Spaces have blessed us with a pop-up shop in Stockbridge in the run up to Christmas, but for those further afield they also stock an array of beautiful things on their online shop, including natural beeswax candles in the most divine selection of colours and dried flower bouquets.

Handsel

Handsel is a fairly new addition to my local neighbourhood and I am absolutely delighted about it. They stock a lovely range of gifts and homewares and I am frankly obsessed with their gorgeous ceramics.

And that's a wrap!

I hope this Christmas gift guide helps you on your way with your shopping this year. Now more than ever independent brands and shops need our support and I know we all want to do what we can to support our Edinburgh favourites, even if it is from afar.

Happy browsing!
