Picture Me In The Trees: A Weekend at theTreehouses at Lanrick

My weekend at Lanrick was complimentary but I was under no obligation to write a blog post. As always, all content and opinions are my own.

The Treehouses at LanricK

The Treehouses at Lanrick are a collection of stunning luxury treehouses located on the banks of the River Teith in Perthshire, around an hour’s drive from Edinburgh and Glasgow. Built on a private woodland bordering the Trossachs National Park, the location of the treehouses is incredibly tranquil. Each treehouse has been created with comfort in mind and they are the perfect off-grid hideaways. I was lucky enough to spend a weekend there when the autumnal colours were at their peak. It really is the perfect countryside escape and I highly recommend visiting in the autumn!

Flycatcher

There are five treehouses at Lanrick and each has their own personality and unique design. Our home for the weekend was Flycatcher, a stunning one-bedroom treehouse with a huge wrap-around balcony and private outdoor bath. Flycatcher is actually connected to Willow Warbler by a rope bridge, making it the perfect option for groups or families as well.

Flycatcher is incredibly cosy. We had the log-burner going most of the time we were there and were quite content to cosy up in front of it. We had grand plans of exploring the local area but found that we were so happy and settled in our treehouse, we actually didn’t leave the Lanrick woodland the entire trip!

One of the most unique aspects of staying at the Flycatcher is the amazing outdoor copper bathtub. It’s such an experience. Lying in the warm water as the air turned crisp and cool is incredibly relaxing. All you can hear is the sway of trees and the occasional burst of birdsong. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of one of the woodland’s red squirrels as they scramble through the trees.

Woodland Walks

One of the really special things about Lanrick is the incredible woodland and riverside walks surrounding the treehouses. We found a walking trail map in our treehouse and decided to set out and explore. Perthshire is known for its stunning scenery and lush woodland and this area is no exception. We visited in the autumn so the forests had turned spectacularly golden. It was so special to wander around (even in the rain and mud!) and admire the stunning foliage. We also got very lucky and saw several red squirrels! There are a couple of river huts at Lanrick which you can prebook for a barbecue or fire-pit which would be really special if you were celebrating or in a larger group.

Good to Know

  • Due to the birds and wildlife in the surrounding woodlands, the Treehouses are not dog-friendly.

  • The focus at the Treehouses is on slow and off-grid living. For that reason, there wasn’t WiFi or a TV in our treehouse (Flycatcher) - although there was a decent level of mobile coverage. If that’s an issue for you, I’d recommend checking directly with the Lanrick team.

  • Erica, the manager of the Treehouses, is a trained masseuse and offers Swedish Massage to Treehouse guests. You just need to book ahead!

If you’re looking for an off-grid, relaxing hideaway, I highly recommend the Treehouses at Lanrick. They’re very popular during the summer months but I’d put in a special word for staying in the autumn. The colours are just incredible and you get the full benefit of the log fire!

Thank you so much to the team at Lanrick for hosting me.
